If there is anything about music that I couldn’t cherish or appreciate more is the emotional response I get when I listen to something truly ground-breaking. Be it an interesting sound design, a mind-blowing arrangement or just a pure injection of goosebumps-inducing electricity, straight into the brain. I guess this is why I am so passionate about music itself, and every now end then, I find myself longing for such an intense fix of sonic beauty. It. Does. Not. Happen. Every. Day.
So, here’s “Warnung” by Feldman + Tiley. Stating it as bluntly and blatantly as this does not give it justice, of course. But then the delivery, and the listening response, is something you might not have experienced in a while. This German duo from the city of Stuttgart have been producing inspiring sounds since their formation back in 2017, providing a social commentary on the current state of the world. “Warnung” is one of the previews of their latest project, “Protomensch”, which is slated for release in February 2026. And, given what they have shown to us so far, you would not want to miss this premiere.
I feel that “Warnung”, the single, and “Warnung”, the video, are inseparable in conveying their message both through sound and image. You will understand this as soon as you combine the two. Marked by YouTube as sensitive content, the visual part of “Warnung” is bringing both the state of a sudden shock and a shivery bodily response to what is in fact our current reality. Reality that sometimes we choose to turn a blind eye on.
While the “Warnung” video might make you want to close your eyes every now and then, I suggest to ingest it as is – raw, disturbing and with a growing sense of concern. It is an alert. One that starts with a siren-like sound and builds up to become the most aggressive track from the upcoming album. After all, the video footage represents our reality, and not some artistic fiction. Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, is entirely up to you. But the facts are inescapable, and the artistic response coming out of it is straight to the point.
Give yourself a fix of disturbing truth. If you dare.
