Here’s a little mid-week shot of emotion. And I swear, given its title, your expectations are by default going somewhere else. Yet “St. Patrick’s Day” by White Nammu is absolutely worth every listen. It is beautifully haunted, the synths will give you shivers, and the heavily processed vocals sound like something truly out-of-this-world. Sentimental all the way through, White Nammu’s song is perhaps the exact opposite of what you would normally feel at a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin.
The man behind White Nammu, Robert Graz, has dressed the feeling of constant nostalgia in atmospheric, experimental IDM vibes. Introducing the song’s protagonist, Kathie, he takes us through images that blur “longing with paranoia, personal grief with collective collapse”. And this is exactly where you will find its beauty – in that overwhelming feeling of being sad and confused without knowing what had specifically triggered it.
With “St. Patrick’s Day” you let yourself dive into the unknown, which is the best you can do when listening to new music. It is an invitation to truly open your mind and let the fragility of White Nammu’s dark-synth-pop sound in.
I will do it now for the twentieth time. Will you?

Love this track and its atmosphere! The artist feels like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. People are still chasing after him, and he remains a mystery
I think Robert Graz is dead. But the songs he recorded between 1986 and 1993 in his home studio on a Fostex 8-track machine and an Atari ST during the 80s and early 90s are testimony to a visionary mind. Since then, his recordings have been circulating in underground circles as bootlegs like a well-kept secret and Graz has become something like a true German indie legend among a few music connoisseurs. I heared Embasy Of Music willnrelease a selection of remastered recordings. It‘s about time!
So true! His recordings are too good to be kept in the vault. I did try to find out more but my internet searches have not been very successful or informative enough. It is definitely worth the wait though!
