This week’s mid-week surprise is “Midnight Train” by World Collage, a Spanish duo whose track “Glances” you might already remember from this website. Starting with a delicate tango vibe, the song literally takes you on a sentimental journey back in time, to a different music era.
Slowly developing into a nostalgic house tune, “Midnight Train” features female vocals and the lyrics which bring back images of times which are no more. This blend of poetic and mysterious results in a strong feeling of longing and nothing else but, yes, goosebumps – fleeting yet intense.
World Collage, at this stage, have made musical eclecticism their own, recognisable trademark. Mixing electronica with cinematic textures, their sound is quite uncompromising in being undefinable. And there’s nothing better than undefinable that I love about and look for in music. Escaping labels, tags, categorisations. And the unexpectedness lurking from behind every sound. In other words, a real treat!

Fun track, I think that it would have been a hit if it had been released in the 90s. 😀
Cheers.
