Klinsmann “Paper Boat”

By pure coincidence, I am introducing you to this love song during the Valentine’s Day week. It is not what you may have been expecting, though, despite the timing. However, as I am generally opposed celebrating love once a year only, somehow the timing couldn’t actually be better. This short tune by a Maltese singer-songwriter, Klinsmann, will stir your emotions, perhaps bringing flashbacks of those times when you were holding on to love no matter what. Called “Paper Boat”, it is beautifully relatable, albeit melancholic, but perfectly striking that emotional note which is full of hope, vulnerability and resilience.

The single’s artwork is a fitting metaphor offering a key to the lyrics. This fragile red paper boat floating on turbulent waves represents a symbol of a true and familiar feeling that a lot of us can remember. Sometimes it is ok to look back at past relationships and, instead of anger, feel perfectly at peace. Things happen for a reason, forgive me for using this cliché phrase, but what is a Valentine’s Day without harmless clichés?

So, here is “Paper Boat” – a touching love anthem, a heartfelt memory, a delicate, almost fleeting moment of pure affection. Sounds about right to me. EVERY. DAY. OF. THE. YEAR.
