This short, slightly quirky tune is a perfect example of how deliciously psychedelic trip hop can get, if you let it. Part of an EP entitled “My Face”, it represents the overall vibe of the release, experimental downtempo vibes with a dash of pure insanity.
CoatedPolecat, the composer, creates soundtracks to indie video games, a point that does not go unnoticed in “Tracers”. To be honest, it’s pretty refreshing to listen to this beat-making approach embroidered with unsettling, oneiric vocal chops.
In the end, the four tracks on CoatedPolecat’s EP, including “Tracers”, sound like a soundtrack to quite a messed-up dream. But if you are even a little bit adventurous, this will be a dream you will not want to wake up from.
