Early August, a full-on summer weekend, and I am bringing you an EDM tune which is darker than usual. Which is what I like the most about it, of course.
One of DJ Remo’s latest offerings, “Hell No”, featuring Madeleine Wood on the vocals, is an emotionally intense story of a fallout of a fractured relationship. Musically, a rapid exchange of tension between the beat and the bass line is key to the storytelling here, making the sounds the main actors of the drama.
Bringing memories of mid 90s techno, way before it was all thrown into one bucket with the EDM label, “Hell No” features aggressive sounds of bass which illustrate the anger, the disappointment, and the heaviness of a difficult breakup. As far as its story goes, that tension before ending a relationship, combined with emotional sounds, creates a rewarding listening experience on a very lonely, and quite dark dance floor.
This is by far my favourite DJ Remo track which proves that, regardless of the genre, the music is simply great when the right sounds meet the right story. Jackpot!

I wasn’t expecting much and the beginning wasn’t promising, but it escalated so nicely I’m actually shocked. Definitely… hell yes. 😁
