With a blend of electronica, ambient and elements of trap, Cate Kileva introduces us to her new musical world. Having released ten albums under a different moniker, she is treating “Bitten” as a debut single of this new identity.
“Bitten” is as mysterious as it is fascinating. With its soundscapish intro, and the light ambient sounds of the piano, it welcomes you into a space which promises soft relaxation. Nothing more wrong, though.
“Bitten by your heart”, the opening lines of the chorus, announce the real direction of this hypnotic tune. More dynamic, darker, almost gothic in the way the vocals are sung, they break the promise of the lyrical meditation experience. But at the same time, they reward you with a sonic realm that you will actually remember, and hopefully enjoy as much as I have.
Cate’s next single, “A Melancholy”, will be out on 14th June. I have already heard it and, mark my words, this emotional journey you definitely do not want to miss!
