Straight from The Sound of Paros’ latest EP, here comes “Mister Mystery”, the opening track and the mysterious gateway to the world of “Ama Rêverie”. Released on the 24th July, the EP contains three songs, a follow-up to the project’s debut album, “Spacetime”, from 2025. Built from the dialogue “between musicians who have crossed paths across continents and cultures”, it is a jazz-infused feast of intimate sounds and beautiful words.

“Mister Mystery” features a figure of a “mysterious mariner drifting from port to port”. Lyrically dressed as a spoken-word story, it literally lets you feel and taste the sensations of your imagination as you listen to the narrative. The wind blowing from the direction of the port, the taste of salty water. It is exactly at this moment, as you listen to the song, that the poetic beauty is created.

Everything here feels thought-through and purposeful. The sound full of intentional meaning features the interplay between the Fender bass and piano, while the steady congas represent the ticking of the ship’s clock. All of these instruments form a layer over which the spoken-word lyrics come to life. The imagination starts working, eyes close, and the pictures start unraveling, as if in a movie, on the inner sides of your eyelids. The warm voice of Jennifer Forse functions here as a guide, a beacon, the light coming from the lighthouse, leading you back to safety, to – when the song ends – the most comfortable of feelings. Pure bliss. That’s how immersive the new music by The Sound of Paros is.
