Introducing Sibb’s music to you all could not be easier. WHAT. A. TUNE! “Alright”, which has just been visualised with a new video, is a beautiful piano ballad. With its Walz-like tempo, and a warm but melancholic aesthetic, it has just received a new life. Part of Sibb’s 2024 EP, “Delusion”, it tells a story of a person who is “reflecting on being pursued by someone who offered to cheat on their partner with them, and rejecting this offer for the sake of morality”.
Everything about Sibb seems to be a powerful, yet sophisticated statement. From his stage name expressing his identity, which stands for “simple black boy”, to his expressive artistic presence. Based in Bremen, Germany, he has been discovered by the Berlin-based label, Embassy of Music, while performing live at the Nürnberg Pop Festival. And now, “Alright” takes a bold step into the world of mainstream music with the video specifically made for this opportunity. Beautifully soft, but creatively full of visual strength, it is an evidence of a transformation which resulted in an intentional change of the image. Less theatrical, more human, and touching on so many different levels.
What stands out about the video made for “Alright” is its restrained beauty, elegant, yet somehow “simple”, for the lack of a better word. It reflects the purity of the message, and reaching an emotional equilibrium between what is part of the show, and what is grounded in Sibb’s absolute honesty. A revealing of the truth, sort of speak. The result? Beautifully crafted visuals which become powerful by offering less expression and more sophistication. A balance of emotions which feel warm and somehow comforting. And, in my humble opinion, a window into the inner, deeply personal strength which provides a proof of a wonderful metamorphosis. Discovering it all in a 3-minute-long piano ballad feels rare and remarkable, doesn’t it?
