“Life comes, life goes, life permeates.” The new single by Claxy, titled “Permeia”, explores the themes of the fleeting time and acceptance. Suspended between a dream and reality, this soothing melodic house tune opens the doors to more than just a sonic experience. It’s reflection and letting go that the duo is after this time. And they do create perfect conditions for this to happen.
Wrapped around a house beat and Afro-organic sounds, “Permeia” feels like a cocoon in which emotions are safe. The rhythm is steady, as is the tempo of your breath and of your heartbeat as you listen to it. This short, but fruitful meditation-like state invites the thoughts focused around the topics of not just the passing of the time. But also the way it carries us through life and transforms, shapes our minds and our bodies. This inevitable sense of flow through which we appear, live, and eventually dissolve back into non-existence. There’s an unimaginable beauty in channeling such thoughts this way.
Musically, “Permeia” is seemingly full of delicate energy. But it’s the recurring line of the lyrics, performed in Brazilian Portuguese which forms an anchor that staples the entire performance into a mantra-like experience. It feels like nothing here is left to chance. “Life comes, life goes, life permeates.” And, as we move through the time, in this state of a constant flux, we allow the energy to become us. Sometimes for longer, sometimes, sadly, not. But no matter the length of the actual time, it is more about feeling the moment and accepting the fact that it will eventually pass. You did not expect that from a dance track, did you?
