You might know Janus Rasmussen as one half of the critically acclaimed duo, Kiasmos. Following the release of their last album, “II”, back in 2024, Janus is now premiering singles which will ultimately form his solo album, “Inert”. “Drain”, the second delivery from that album, is a dreamy electronica which immerses you in the sea of delicate beats and ethereal textures.
“Drain feels like it was born from a dream”, explains Janus. Having created the song years ago, almost as the most private treasure, he decided to release it as part of the upcoming album. “Sharing it is both exciting… and a little intimidating”, he says.
Musically, “Drain” flows between cinematic synths, interwoven with an intricate beat. These two elements combined create a unique vibe. Filled with vocals decorated with sea-like reverbs and delays, the song feels like a piece of Faroe Islands, where Janus came from, wrapped and presented as a precious gift. If you have a moment of time to dive in into this rich aquatic feeling, you will be rewarded with a sense of pure relaxation. A place where you can let it all go and where everything feels safe.
“Inert”, the album, is slated for the release on the 19th June. With Janus’ vocals taking the center place for the first time, you may expect a collection of tunes enriched with lyrical sensitivity. The fleeting experience of finding yourself in the world created by this combination is something that I am waiting to meet with excitement and impatience. A sonic safe place worth looking forward to!
