The Modders “Yuppie”

With this blend of jazzy and trippy vibes, The Modders introduce their first single as a “superband”. Called “Yuppie”, it delivers a Massive Attack-like experience from the early 1990s. Taking what’s best from the original genre, and enriching it with a saxophone and an electric guitar, The Modders carve a comfortably fitting niche for their music.

The vocoder-heavy vocals of “Yuppie” complement the arrangement in a way that, thankfully, does not feel artificial. There is something very tasteful about the way those various elements fit in the overall puzzle. The result is an upbeat, chilled tune which reveals its different facets slowly over the six minutes. A bit of funk, nu jazz and trip hop.

The Modders’ plan is to provide thought-provoking lyrics on a backdrop of an intelligent fusion of various musical vibes. This first taste, a quick look into the depth of their intentional creation, presents a well-thought project. One that can deliver a quality sound. And an invitation to discover more, once that “more” is out. I am looking forward to it, intrigued by the direction that The Modders want to take us with.
