Returning home is always such a great feeling. No matter how amazing the holidays were, there is always this sense of relief mixed with happiness. That you will sleep in your own bed again. That you will simply lie down on your own couch in front of your own TV set. And coming back home to hear and share some new music… That is even better!
This time, I returned with a plan to introduce you to a new up-and-coming artist – Bettine Solf. Bettine is a Peruvian-born, London-based singer-songwriter, producer and sound engineer with a background in film scoring and performance. Her latest single, “NN”, has just dropped an all streaming platforms. “NN” is a song caught between two worlds, and one heart – says Bettine. And for some reason, for me, it feels exactly like coming home after a long trip. This sense of happiness mixed with relief of being back at the place you know extremely well. A place which pulsates with your own heartbeat.
In “NN”, the traditional Peruvian beat is boldly blended with a touch of indie pop, resulting in a melody which feels like pure celebration. Performed in both Spanish and English, the song explores the ups and downs of having your heart split between different places. A lot of us, including myself, can certainly relate to this dual feeling after having left the home country for another location.
And even if your story is different, there is still the song to enjoy. Vibrant, pulsating with a Latin rhythm. Creating a sense of longing infused with the happy feeling of pure exploration – new places, new cultures, new experiences. No wonder that listening to “NN” leaves you feeling uplifted and exhilarated. Broadening horizons through travel opens your mind like nothing else in the world. And for that, we should all be grateful.
Thank you, Bettine, for reminding us of that.
