Just in time for the weekend, here is my latest Mood Board playlist containing tracks I have listened to throughout the month of September.
Starting with a new song released by Celeste, the title track from her upcoming album “Woman Of Faces”. It showcases her unforgettable, unique voice in a slightly dramatic, cabaret-style waltzy ballad. It is immediately followed by Neon Sines from their recent project, “The Neon Tape”. With Ariana Calaeno on the vocals, “Marionette” sounds a bit like taken out from a Bond movie. Both majestic in the overall vibe, and sounding “retro” enough to justify the comparison. Listen to the entire album in a free moment, by the way, to discover the many different faces of Neon Sines.
Moving on further, we have “The Player” by Roy Avital and Totemo – a cool, relaxing mood followed by “Find A Way” from the latest delivery by Faithless, “Champion Sound”. While it is not the best Faithless album I have ever heard, this particular track seems to recall some of their greatness from years ago, and it is good to have it back.
The next track brings some chilling hip hop vibes by Anitek and TabInStereo. Titled “Wuhan”, it features dark textures and an ominous beat which sounds like a reminder of the things we would prefer to forget.
In the section that follows, I have included two more mainstream-ish tunes. “Elephant Clouds” from the latest Morcheeba album, and a new collab between SG Lewis and London Grammar, “Feelings Gone”.
The September playlist ends with two songs which are more on the trippy side. “pacifico” by Night Tapes comes from their album that premiered just two weeks ago. And the final song, “A Velvet Rope”, brings some nightly moods and is an invitation to discover the entire album by Jamie Woon. It is only his third LP in almost fifteen years, so it feels almost precious to experience Jamie’s music whenever he is ready to put it out.
