Cordless “Dreaming in Dub”

Quick question for you all, my dear Gentle Readers. Which music genre fits the summer heatwave the most? Dub reggae, of course!

The scorching heat and the cooling vibes are at the core of dub. They are meant to relax and chill. Best example? The latest single by Cordless, the Irish electronic duo made up of Spill and Skully, whose previous single, “When I Fall Asleep”, you might remember from this blog.

“Dreaming in Dub”, Cordless’ third single, is a chilling fusion of trip hop and dub reggae meant to sonically recreate a sparkling summer vibe. The high temperatures of the air are contrasted here with the feeling of an immediate relief created by the image of lazy ocean waves. It is slow, mellow, and extremely relaxing while at the same time maintaining the duo’s trip hop core.

If, like me, you find yourself in an urgent need of cooling down, “Dreaming in Dub” will do the job perfectly. Enjoy this dreamy tune with a guilt-free glass of white martini, a few ice cubes, and a slice of lemon. We are at the beginning of another hot summer weekend after all!

    • Thanks so much to you both!

Btw, I still remember the 6 or 7 summers I had spent in Dublin. Especially the one with approx. 60 consecutive days of rain 😉 So, also thanks for bringing a bit of chill to my super hot day today! 🙂

  2. Personally I associate heatwave with 00’s french house and contemporary r’n’b (stuff like “Don’t Smile” by Sabrina Carpenter), buuuuuut dub reggae is also a great thing to listen to in summer. 😀 “Dreaming in Dub” sounds like being in the city on summer evening and it’s really cool.
    Cheers 🍹
