When you hear this kind of jazz, you know that Christmas is nigh. At least in my head, and even if it was originally not intended this way. My mind seems to have this hardcoded: jazz equals Christmas. Christmas equals jazz.
Charles Becker, a singer-songwriter from New York, is most definitely unaware that his “Beginner” is launching the Xmas season in my special, private December playlist. But since the vibe is there, seriously, why not?
“Beginner” is more of a love story, though, in a very snowy, New-York-ish kind of style. You close your eyes, and you are immediately there, transported by the sounds of the piano and the soft, romantic vocals. A very classy track, not with a retro-vibe, but more of a timeless quality. So, if you cannot relate to my Christmas comparison, give it a go around St. Valentine’s. It will work, too.
As far as romantic songs go, “Beginner” brings a sense of warmth to a sweet dating story which flows pleasantly, creating images of an adorable couple at those early, still unsure moments of love yet-to-be-discovered, where things can go either way.
Which way does it go in this song? Give it a spin to find out!

I agree. It’s very cozy, New-York-ish (although I’ve never been there), overall charming. Good choice for snowy evenings. ☕
Merry crisis and happy new fear. 😉🎄
Thanks! Same to you!! 😀
