For those of you who, like me, are not necessarily up-to-date with the latest developments in the world of Americana music, meet Casey Frazier. Often referred to as a modern Renaissance man, he is the type of a singer-songwriter who does it all. Having moved to Nashville at the age of 14, he released his first album back in 2007. December 2023 marked the release of his latest delivery, “Old Cuban and The Line Up”, which includes today’s feature, a track called “Easy”.
“Easy” is packed with raw emotion to the maximum, and – in very simple terms – it is more about the story-telling and the performance, than the actual genre, which is bent here quite a lot anyway. It is also one of those tracks which, if it gets to you, it will make you fall in love with itself immediately, and it will not leave you for a long while. These electric guitars and these trembling gritty vocals will hit you straight away with the type of pure honesty that is rare and beautifully true. And this is exactly where the value of Casey’s songwriting is rooted so deeply.
With all of the above qualities which, we’d all agree, are absolutely larger than the music itself, “Easy” is a true highlight of Casey’s latest album. After all, as truly eclectic readers of this blog, you all understand the meaning of emotions relayed through musical sounds – they are not quantifiable, they cannot be put in a box (sure, you can try this one!), and they cannot be labelled. Life would be so boring without songs such as this one, take my word for it.
