You might remember Mina from her debut single, “Isn’t All I Wanted For”, featured on this page a while ago. Her latest delivery, “Disobey”, is an interesting blend of Eastern and Western influences. Deliciously electronic, yet at the same time defying a specific genre classification, it brings to mind late 90s music, slightly spiritual, atmospheric, but also full of technology at the same time.
Mina’s vocals are a dance of words decorated with deep reverbs which build an oneiric atmosphere, immersing you with echos and ethereal sonic touches. It is a bit of a journey, one of those “trips” into your soul that creates an emotional response and stays with you longer than the actual length of the song itself. “Disobey” retains a mysterious presence in your mind and soul, inviting you to revisit whatever was on your mind while you were listening to it.
It is not that easy to find a similar vibe these days. This delicate yet persistent vibe which brings your feelings to the surface, and inspires more than just a 3-minute-long 808 banging. With “Disobey”, you will be asked to devote your attention to the actual music. And to feel it, as uncomfortable as it is sometimes, but widely rewarding and richly satisfying, if you decide to go through with it.
