Here’s a slightly different story. A quite inspiring one, actually. Split Vision, the band, was formed in 1985 in Sweden. Surfing on the wave of popular synth pop groups of that era, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Pet Shop Boys, they produced similar vibes, melodic dance tunes with that characteristic 80s feel. Disbanded after a few intense years, the group was revived in 2019 by two of the original members. Split Vision released a new album and continued on its retro synth path. Never say never, sounds quite fitting in this case, innit?
The group’s latest single, “Save Our Souls” is as much about nostalgia as it is about bringing back the vibe which, now in 2024, seems to sound fresh and current again. Standing at the crossroads, metaphorically speaking, is where this world is in a large number of aspects, so bringing dystopian moods of the 1980s does make sense.
Back to music, though. “Save Our Souls”, with its energetic electro vibes is a little gem for both older, and new listeners. The song’s rich synthesisers are the glue of Split Vision’s signature sound which they have been developing for years. In their own words: “With our songs we want to convey the feeling of the 80s and give the listeners a retro experience (…). The goal has been to recreate the sound we strived for from the start”.
So, without any further delay – are you ready to jump back into the past? I am for sure!

I agree, it sounds very fresh. Reminds me Duran Duran a lot.
Cheers.
