Ki Dub “Mother May Be” – Alice Ballantine (Ki Dub Remix)

Along comes drum and bass! Successfully re-injected into the mainstream by songs such as “Strangers” performed by Kenya Grace. And you don’t need to look for inspiration further than Bristol, the home of trip hop, to find more, totally amazing examples.

“Mother May Be” is a beautiful remix made by two of the founding members of a Bristol-based band, Dub Mafia. Their drum and bass is as soulful as it is jazzy – a breathtaking combination that will fill you up with inspiring, uplifting vibes. With Alice Ballantine on the mic, this is one goosebumps-inducing collaboration. (Will I ever stop talking about goosebumps? No, never!)

The remix made by Ki Dub has it all, so to speak. The roots deeply grown into the 1990s original beat making, and the really chilling vocals with some truly meaningful lyrics. Having already listened to it like a million times, I testify, this beauty will have you hooked in no time. And if you are one lucky soul that still remembers a guy called Adam F, that’s even better. Drum and bass has always been one of my favourite genres and I am extremely happy to see it back!
