Meet Sletta, a Norwegian artists living in London. Her fusion of nu-jazz and neo-soul tastes deliciously sweet. “Come Through”, coming from her debut EP, “Sometimes We Have To Look Inward”, creates a feeling of amazing lightness which makes one feel like floating. Floating in the air, like a helium-filled balloon, all shiny and smiley.
This positive attitude, perfectly reflected in the jazzy arrangement, brings a lot of memories of those before. In my head, specifically, Corinne Bailey Rae from her debut album and her first single full of sunshine in that super happy video.
Even though Sletta admits that expressing emotions isn’t always he strongest suit, she creates a lot of curiosity around her persona through intelligently crafted sounds and interesting story-telling. No-one can be super positive 24/7, it’s impossible, but entering Sletta’s world brings comfort and hope which we all need sometimes. This is the healing power of music at its best. Bring on the full album!
