Siobhan Anderson, the solo artist behind Static Cosmonaut has just released her new single, entitled “Contaminated”. Wrapped in a trip hop arrangement, this dark, thought-provoking tune creates an introspective mood which makes you contemplate the current state of the world.
Citing Portishead, Burial and Thom Yorke as her influences, Static Cosmonaut dives into the world of conspiracy theories with enough nonchalance to provoke a (hopefully) meaningful conversation. After all, it “kind of feels like everything is trying to kill us”, as goes the chorus of “Contaminated”.
Rightly or not, it is up to each and every one of us to decide. Musically, though, the trippy vibes of this song have really put me in a quasi-relaxing, quasi-disturbing trance that was both fascinating and, for the lack of a better word, terrifying.
Needless to say, I want more!
