Premiering today is Malou Lovis’ acoustic version of “One More Day”. Originally recorded with Tokio Hotel, this is a stripped down solo rendition performed by the winner of The Voice of Germany from 2023. Malou showcases her delicate voice, full of silent emotion, on a backdrop of a piano and violins. Creating a different palette of sonic colours, it becomes a new message. Like a lighthouse beaming lights at different intervals.
And just like its lyrics, this version of “One More Day” feels fragile and insistent on preserving every single moment. “One day we’ll give all we’ve got for just one more day”, concludes the chorus. Making the listening experience painfully real and creating a feeling that our lives are like fleeting flashes of vivid life. We burst into a living fire, we thrive, and then we fade away. Shivers are all one can feel when listening to this song and contemplating the unavoidable fate.
“One More Day” was originally released in September as part of the soundtrack for the new adaptation of the “Momo” movie. The acoustic performance, which has been released today, feels like a separate musical being. Full of philosophical depth and unexpected warmth, even when facing with the topic of the passing time. While both versions are outstanding it their own right, I find pleasure in discovering, again, how a transformation of sounds can affect human emotions. Sad but beautiful, melancholic yet thrilling.
An amazing reminder to hold on to the precious moments. Before they disappear.
