Following the successful release of “Wheels Fall Off”, a wonderfully chilled track featured here a while ago, Henry Aberson is back with his take on jazzy neo-soul vibes. With Nariah Taylor on the vocals, “Wouldn’t You Know” is lyrically bitter, touching on the subject of love, failed love, disappointed love.
“This song came from a place of real reflection,” says Aberson. “It’s about those unexpected emotional turns—when you think you’re done feeling something for someone, and then, wouldn’t you know… there it is again.”
Musically wrapped around with a groovy beat, the song draws inspirations from the independent R&B scene, providing a fusion of jazz and soul background to a quietly intense storytelling. The phrase “Wouldn’t You Know” sounds here like a mantra, repeated multiple times as a bitter reminder of how love goes sometimes.
If you like the music of D’Angelo, Jordan Rakei or Moonchild, chances are high this groovy tune will resonate with you as well.
