“Are you ready for the fix?”, asks Hugo Trist as he introduces a track from his debit album. Combining 2-step garage beats and nostalgic synth wave vibes, “De-Identify” takes you on a melancholic journey to the end of the last century. Whether you still remember those sounds from back then, or you hear them for the first time, the impact is similar – a sense of longing for something that was, and is no more. What better vibe than dark electronica to introduce such emotions?
Hugo Trist works with analog synthesisers and looping techniques creating soundscapes which are both mysterious and atmospheric. Merging unique lyrics with modern sound production, he brings back to the surface all sorts of forgotten feelings, and makes his music a deeply personal experience.
As for the album itself, it features vocals of Hugo, as well as his musical companion, Nin Lil. And just like with “De-Identify”, you can anticipate a high dose of nostalgia from the other songs, too. After all, its title, “Ready For The Fix”, sets the expectation right. This is a fusion of sadness and electrifying rushes of euphoria. Some pretty addictive stuff that you will not be able to let go of easily.
