Playlists

Mood Board: December 2024

Following the year-end reviews, I felt it would be nice to give you a bit of a breather from my playlists for a short while. But now the time has come to share the promised December 2024 one, just to formally close the year with some cool, and not necessarily winter sounding tunes.

Starting with one of my projects, The $cience and “Step Into The Beat” – a fun and uplifting invitation to dance with a dash of a euro dance influence. This is followed by one of the tracks from Tori Amos’ latest live album, “Diving Deep Live”. I really like when Tori performs with a band as it gives her a chance to re-invent some of the songs. This time, in a more psychedelic manner which, for me personally, is a real treat. I have chosen “Code Red” from Tori’s “American Doll Posse” album as, at the time of listening, it felt like the right choice given everything happening around us.

I am also sharing Michael Kiwanuka’s “Rebel Soul”, one of my Top 10 songs of 2024 and then top it up with “Young Lion” by Sade. This is the first Sade single in years, recorded for a compilation album, “TRANSA”, an incredible collection of songs put together by the Red Hot Org. Sade’s track is incredibly inspiring and sad to the point of huge goosebumps. A beautiful story of a mother and a true statement of empowerment.

And when was the last time you have heard from Regina Spektor? This wonderful singer-songwriter released “Songs (2024 Remaster)” at the end of November and “Lounge” is the tune which resonated with me the most. “Lounge” is followed by two songs from the pool of my latest discoveries. Lachi’s “Diseducation (Acoustic)” and “Blessings” by MC Paul Barman,

The final sounds of this selection belong to Thomas Azier, one of my favourite Dutch artists whose music touches me every time. His new single “Never Again” sounds trippy and dystopian. Like a premonition that you watch unravel in front of your eyes. Musically, a dark ambient soundscape, it makes you feel helpless when faced with an unstoppable obstacle, pretty much hopeless and unable to react. Quite an achievement for less than three minutes of music.

As always, have fun discovering the new tunes, and please share your favourites in the comments below.
