This eclectic mix of vintage jazz with house and electro will keep you on your toes. There is nothing obvious in this third single from Kinzoogianna’s upcoming album, “The Clique of ’86”. “Nancy Nice and Nasty” tells a story about a night out in the mid 80s, hunting down an illegal rave, with just a scrap of paper with a number on it. Hooked yet?
With a fusion of unexpected sounds coming from various genres, “Nancy…” does not have a specific structure organised in a predictable pattern. It is more of an exploration, and experience in connecting a myriad of unrelated dots. In other words, pure fun for a music listener with an open mind and no set expectations. So, if you are up for it, join the party line!
Kinzoogianna is Anna Stubbs from a band called Brotherly, and you can expect her full solo album in 2025. Well, “expect” is not exactly the proper word, as we have just established, so you are more likely to hold your breath for the duration of the release, in anticipation of sudden twists and a no-rules approach to the factors driving more mainstream music. After all, isn’t it the very reason why we search for new music anyway? The element of surprise, a mind-blowing moment of connection through sounds? I know I am setting the bar pretty high, but why not? “Nancy Nice and Nasty” is doing that to itself anyway!
