Faby Médina “Wild Is The Flower”

This jazz beauty will brighten your day. Faby Médina’s “Wild Is The Flower” is the first preview of her upcoming 2025 album. The fusion of jazz, soul and gospel influences showcases Faby’s vocal talent in a way that hardly needs any introductions.

Referencing “the audacity of Bessie Smith, the joy of Ella Fitzgerald, and Tina Turner’s backbone”, Faby has been the voice of Claude Bolling’s big band for over 20 years. But now, it is time to go solo and pay tribute to all the powerful, courageous and subversive female singers that came before. And yes, there are no coincidences here – this tribute will be one hell of a jazz ride from start to finish!

“Wild Is The Flower”, the song, opens almost a cappella, with some beautiful vocalising, slowly moving to a full on jazz arrangement, with Faby’s voice taking the lead and intensifying until the end. Pure pleasure to listen to, it features some powerful lyrics, too, coming down as an impressive and wholesome empowering message: “Because the truth is, we can change so much more”.

And what else would you need from a jazz anthem, if not exactly this. Embracing the differences, bringing all generations of female singers together in one pure, honest message. So, if you are intrigued enough to press play, do give it a good listen, and share your impressions in the comments below.
