Time for some mid-week chill. This elegantly crafted cover version of Slowdive’s “Sugar for the Pill” has been re-imagined by the Brazilian duo, Claxy. Based in Germany, the singer Clara Valente and the producer Gui Gautreaux bring a fresh perspective to this classic tune. Blending their Brazilian roots with electronica, they arrive at the sound which is both upbeat and immersed in melancholy.
Imagine entering a club. Strobe and laser lights pulsating against the walls, with you in the middle of a dancing crowd. And at that very moment time slows down. You breathe calmly, observing this nearly motionless scene, and the feeling of pure relaxation takes over your senses. You close your eyes, your feet follow the beat, and the rest of the world disappears. This is how it feels to be inside of this tune, surrounded by its delicate sounds.
“Sugar for the Pill” is Claxy’s debut release on Embassy One, the record label known for its choice of brilliantly dreamy electronica acts, such as Kaleida, or Monolink. It seems that Claxy have found the right place for their gentle vibes and, as they enter the realm of organic and melodic house again, it feels like a re-birth of sorts, a new home, a new beginning. And there’s more to come. Hopefully!
