Pouvoir Magique “The Peacock Dance”

The man behind Pouvoir Magique, Clément Vincent, refers to himself as a “big kid with a boundless imagination”. Inspired by the fantasy worlds of Tolkien, Harry Potter and the likes, he produces a blend of super modern electronic music with cinematic, sometimes spiritual vibes. His debut album, “Cycles”, was released on the last day of February and it is already creating ripples in the musical space-time continuum.

While “The Peacock Dance”, which is featured here, received the most attention so far, the entire album is absolutely worth a focused listen. The way Pouvoir Magique creates his sonic fantasyland, and the way it sucks you in, is simply mind-blowing. It is literally like living between the pages of a book featuring elves, dragons and all sorts of other magical creatures. And then, there’s also the pure musical beauty coming from the fusion of electronic and cinematic in a way which is both inspiring and irresistible.

You might think I am exaggerating, so let me explain. If your imagination is telling you that you may have heard it all before, then, thankfully, you are terribly wrong. “Cycles” is an album full of goosebumps-inducing surprises and experiments with the darker side of electronica. The concept of the fantasy world on this album includes banging beats, fat bass lines and haunting synthesiser sounds which are far from any expectations I may have had originally. And this is how you fall in love with somebody else’s creation. Such a simple process, yet so complicated at the same time.

But if you give “Cycles” a chance, you will be discovering a world which you had no idea ever existed. And when you do, please do come back here and share your impressions with me.
